Fighting fund there for farmers
The NSW Farmers’ Association is reminding farmers in NSW that support is available for battles against unfair and unwarranted barriers to developing sustainable farming and vibrant regional communities.
NSW Farmers’ Association President Charles Armstrong says the Australian Farmer’s Fighting Fund (AFFF) has involved in over 100 such battles since being set up in the 1980’s, but a lot of people don’t seem to be aware of it.
“The issues covered by the fund are numerous and include legal battles with Federal and State Governments, industrial relations, animal activists, mining companies, receivers and banks as well as long term work on trade practices,” Mr Armstrong said.
“The Caroona Coal Action Group is receiving ongoing support from the AFFF, and is a good example of how effective the fund can be,” He said. “The AFFF supports the view of local farmers that the current process of mining exploration is unfair to farmers and insufficient consideration is given to the impact of exploration on farmers’ rights and impact on the land and water resources.
“In another case, the AFFF through the NSW Farmers’ Association and the National Farmers’ Federation provided support to a farming family involved in the Creasy Grain Enterprises grain ownership battles.
“The AFFF is actively involved in many other matters, and we would encourage anyone who feels they have a case of national significance and requires assistance to contact us to find out more,” Mr Armstrong concluded
