Swiss manufacturer Felco, maker of the Felco rotating handle hoof shears, has introduced a unique battery-powered version.

The shears are powerful enough to cut effortlessly, and have such precise blade control that the cut can be interrupted, and the blade reversed and re-aligned at any time. This feature makes the equipment much safer for both man and stock.

The Lithium-Ion battery pack is worn on the waist. It weighs only 2.1 kg, and provides enough power to last for more than a full days work. A hip holster is provided to house the shears when not in use, leaving the operator with free hands and 100% mobility.

Unlike pneumatic and other powered systems, the Felco electric hoof shears do not require connection to a power source during work, making them perfectly suited for on-paddock work and remote locations.

The technology is based on Felco's well known electric pruning shears, which are considered the most robust and reliable on the market. The equipment comes in a carry-case with charger, harness, holster and accessories. It is available through a national network of trained dealerships.
